 Stick'em Up Baby

We're super excited to introduce you to Laura Alexander, Owner & Designer, Stick'em Up Baby located in Fort Worth, Texas. Stick'em Up Baby is a baby milestone shop which creates unique ways for parents to cherish their children's milestones from pregnancy to graduation.

In this post, you'll learn how Laura started her shop, her favorite items the hardest part about running her own business and more! She's definitely a Texas Maker you should follow and support. Read on y'all!

Tell us a little about your business and when & how you got started.

I am a Registered Nurse turned Stay at Home Mom to two wonderful boys, William and Grayson. I have always had a love of the arts and creating things. My boys have been my inspiration for creating these unique ways for others to be able to cherish their child's milestones!

After my second son was born I found that it can be difficult to remember what milestone our pictures are capturing so these blocks and stickers are the perfect solution! I wanted to create blocks that were more unique and personalized than what was available at the time.  I also wanted to make sure that they could be used from pregnancy until graduation.

The blocks in my shop are 100% handcrafted by me. Unlike many block sets available on the market,  I take the time to remove the edges and corners from the blocks so they are safer for babies to handle.

What is your favorite item in the shop right now?

My favorite item in the shop is currently our gorgeous Watercolor Floral Age Blocks. These handmade blocks are a beautiful way to document and cherish all of your baby girl's milestones.

These are also great for first day of school photos! When they are not in use as a photo prop these can double as gorgeous nursery decor when displayed on a shelf or dresser!

What is your favorite part of running your own business? What's the hardest part?

I love the creative outlet it gives me. I like being in control of the direction my business heads. The hardest part is definitely finding the time to actually create all of my ideas!  My to-do list is forever growing. My two little boys sure do keep me busy! Sometimes it can be difficult balancing my time working and my time with my boys.

What advice would you give small business owner just starting out?

Have a business plan from the very beginning. I think that so many people start a business because they love creating an item but they don't think about the bigger picture. I think the number one piece of advice I have is to know your target market inside and out. Not everyone wants to buy your products and that's ok. You just need to focus on the select group of people who do and market it to them.

What's one place in Texas that everyone must visit at least once?

Westcave Preserve! Texas Hill Country is gorgeous! My family went on a beautiful hike down into the grotto there and it was one of the most magical places I have ever visited.
